The two rivals are scheduled to compete in an abbreviated two-game series with the opener set to be broadcasted by the ATPT and NSCH networks Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. ET and live from PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA.
Game Time: 7:05 PM ET
Location: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Moneyline: Pittsburgh -140
This is basically a four-game home-and-home series being played on different occasions. The two rivals met a week ago in Chicago for a two-game stint. The Pirates beat the White Sox 10-6 in the opener and promptly complete the sweep in a 6-5 victory last Wednesday. The Pirates saw their five-game winning streak snapped on Sunday when they lost 5-0 to San Francisco. Chicago snapped a 7-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the Cubs on Sunday.
The Pirates, who are in the midst of a nine-game home stand, enter this affair as a -140 favorite, according to BetDSI Sportsbook, with the total sitting at 9 runs. RH Reynaldo Lopez (0-2, 2.44 ERA) will attempt to snatch his first win of the year as he takes his turn for the White Sox while RH Trevor Williams (4-2, 3.13 ERA) will look to keep his fine form as he gets the call for the Pirates.
Lopez was well on his way to collect his first win of the season back on Wednesday but closer Nate Jones fell apart in the ninth allowing four runs to help Pittsburgh rally from three runs down to beat the White Sox 6-5. The 24-year old didn’t factor into the decision in which he allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 6 strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. The Dominican is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 2-career games against the Pirates.
Williams allowed two homeruns for the second straight start when he yielded only one in his previous 35 1/3 innings in six outings. During that stretch, the 26-year old allowed less than two runs in each of the outings while delivering five quality starts. The San Diego native yielded four runs across seven hits with three strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision in his lone career start against the White Sox on Wednesday.
