NY Mets Look to Take Series against Philadelphia
The streaking New York Mets will attempt to maintain their winning allure and will look to capture their sixth consecutive victory as they get ready to resume hostilities with the Philadelphia Phillies. The two NL East Division rivals are scheduled to meet in the second contest of their three-game series set to be broadcasted on the MBL network Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. ET and live from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA.
Game Time: 7:05 PM ET
Location: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Moneyline: NY Mets -145
The two foes have already met once in a series back in early April with the Mets taking the two games – the opener was postponed – in New York. The Phillies had a chance to avenge the first two losses at home on Friday but the Mets rallied in the ninth to beat them 3-1. The Mets were trailing 1-0 in the inning when Michael Conforto gave the Mets the lead with a two-run homerun and Devin Mesoraco followed suit with a long-ball of his own.
The Phillies, who are riding on a seven-game home stand, enter this contest as a +131 underdog, according to BetDSI Sportsbook, with the total sitting at 7.5 runs. RH Syndergaard (2-1, 3.09 ERA) will attempt to win his first game in more than a month as he gets the call for the Mets while RH Zach Eflin (1-0, 0.71 ERA) will look for back-to-back victories as he takes the mound for the Phillies.
Syndergaard, who has posted four consecutive quality starts in as many outings, hasn’t been his absolute sharpest allowing 29 hits during that stretch. The 25-year old also managed a 0-1 record during that span. In his last start, he allowed two runs on six hits with five strikeouts in six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies last Sunday. The Texan is 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA in 7-career starts against the Phillies.
Eflin, who has officially been anointed as Ben Lively’s (back) replacement, has done a solid job in two starts for the Phillies this season. The 24-year old allowed a run on 3 hits in in six innings in a no-decision in his first outing against Miami. He followed that start with 6 2/3 innings of no-run ball across four hits in an 11-0 victory over the Giants on Monday. The Floridian is 0-2 with a 4.41 ERA in 3-career starts against the Mets.
