Washington got Back to Winnings Ways and will Look to Complete Winning Ways (08/05/2018)
Vegas Odds and MLB Picks: Cincinnati Reds at Washington Nationals
After a hiccup, in which they have lost one of eight straight against the Reds, the Washington Nationals got back on the winner’s circle and continued their dominance against the Cincinnati Reds. The two NL rivals are set to compete in the last game of a four-game series and the Nationals will look to capture their twelfth win out of fourteenth contests which is set to be broadcasted on the FOX network (Ohio) at 1:35 p.m. ET and live from Nationals Park, in D.C.
The Nationals, who have won 12 of the last 14 games against Cincinnati, enter the finale as a -160 home favorite, according to Bovada Sportsbook, with the total run sitting at 9. RH Luis Castillo (6-8, 4.98 ERA) will attempt to register back-to-back victories as he set is to toe the rubber for the Reds while RH Tanner Roark (5-12, 4.37 ERA) will look to capture his third consecutive win as he gets the call in the series’ finale for the Nationals.
After a ruthless month of June in which he compiled a 1-3 record with an unimpressive 6.75 ERA in five starts, Castillo has emerged as the go-to man of late in the starting rotation. Although the 25-year old has just one win in his five starts in July, he managed to allow less than two runs in 4 of his last 5 starts while sporting an excellent 2.25 ERA during that stretch. The Dominican Republic native is 0-2 with a 6.19 ERA in 3-career starts against Washington.
Before winning his last two starts, Roark stunk up the joint in his five outings prior to his sudden emergence. The 31-year old lost all five starts while posting an unenviable 8.20 ERA during that stretch. The Illinois alumni allowed just one combined run across seven hits with a walk and 18 strikeouts in 15 innings in wins against the Brewers and the Mets in his last 2 outings. The Illinois native is 2-2 with a 3.73 ERA in 7-career starts against Cincinnati.
