Interleague Showdown on Tap as Oakland Visits Colorado (07/27/2018)
Vegas Odds and MLB Picks: Oakland Athletics at Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies will attempt to cultivate their winning disposition and will strive to make it back-to-back victories as they get ready to lock horns with the Oakland Athletics. The two interleague rivals are scheduled to compete in the first installment of a three-game series with the opener set to be broadcasted by the Sportsnet network Friday night at 8:40 p.m. ET and live from Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
The Athletics, who have prevailed in five of the last six contests against the Rockies, enter this contest as a -102 road underdog, according to Bovada Sportsbook, with the total sitting on 11.5 runs. LH Sean Manaea (9-6, 3.38 ERA) will attempt to get back into the winner’s circle as he will toe the rubber for the Athletics while LH Kyle Freeland (8-6, 3.28 ERA) will look to rebound from a poor start as he gets the call in the series’ opener for the Rockies.
Manaea has been spot on since the beginning of June in which hasn’t allowed more than three runs while collecting seven quality starts in nine trips to the mound during that stretch. The 26-year old allowed two runs across four hits with no walks and five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the San Francisco Giants back on Monday. The Indiana native, who threw a no-hitter earlier this year, will face the Rockies for the first time in his career.
After six starts in which he allowed fewer than two runs while collecting four quality starts in the process, Freeland stumbled in his last trip to the mound. The 25-year old allowed four runs across five hits with three walks and three strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks back on Saturday. The Denver native, who boasts a suspect 95K:41BB ratio this season, will face the Athletics for the first time in his career.
