Minnesota Looks to Keep Dominant Form against Detroit

The Minnesota Twins will attempt to maintain their winning disposition and will seek to capture back-to-back victories as they get ready to resume hostilities with the Detroit Tigers. The two Al Central Division rivals are scheduled to compete in the first instalment of a three-game series with the contest set to be broadcasted by the FOX Sports network (North-Detroit) Tuesday night at 7:10 p.m. ET and live from Comerica Park in Detroit, MI.

Game Time: 7:10 PM ET

Location: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan

Moneyline: Detroit -110

Total: 9 Over -110

This will be the second series between the two division rivals this season. The Twins took two of three in the first set three weeks ago back in Minnesota. The Twins have dominated the rivalry of late winning nine of the last eleven confrontations against the Tigers. Minnesota enters this series avoiding being swept by the Angels on Sunday. The Tigers, who are half a game ahead of the Twins in second place in the Central, have lost their last 2 series.

The Tigers, who are in the midst of a six-game home stand, enter this contest as a -110 home favorite, according to Bovada Sportsbook, with the total sitting on 9 runs. RH Jake Odorizzi (3-3, 4.24 ERA) will attempt to recover from latest loss as he takes the hill for the Twins while LH Blaine Hardy (2-1, 3.66 ERA) will look to get back in the winner’s circle as he gets the call in the series’ opener for the Tigers.

After suffering his worst outing on the season in which he allowed eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings, Odorizzi pitched well enough to win in his latest start but the bullpen messed things up for him. The 28-year old allowed three runs across six hits with seven strikeouts in five innings in a 5-2 loss to the White Sox on Wednesday. The Illinois native is 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 4-career starts against the Tigers.

Hardy, who made his first major league start after 167 relief appearances against the Mariners back on May 13, lost his first career outing in his last trip to the mound. The 31-year old allowed a season-high five runs across eight hits with no walks with two strikeouts in six innings in a 7-1 loss to the Red Sox back on Wednesday. The Seattle native didn’t factor in the decision in his lone career start against the Twins back on May 21.
