St. Louis Poised to Even Series against Milwaukee
The St. Louis Cardinals will attempt to maintain their winning disposition and will look to capture back-to-back victories as they get ready to resume hostilities with the Milwaukee Brewers. The two NL Central Division rivals are scheduled to compete in the last instalment of a four-game series with the tilt set to be broadcasted on the FOX Sports network (Wisconsin-Midwest) Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET and live from Miller Park in Milwaukee.

The two division belligerents are already engaged in their fourth series with two more to go the rest of the season. The Cardinals took 2 of three back in April in Milwaukee but lost the next set a week later on home soil. They also lost 2 of 3 later in late May in Milwaukee. The Brewers crushed the Cardinals 11-3 in the opener on Thursday before taking the next tilt 2-1 on Friday. The Cardinals rebounded to end a 3-game losing streak by defeating Milwaukee 3-2 on Saturday.
The Brewers, who are in the middle of a six-game home stand, enter this series’ finale as a -135 home favorite, according to Bovada Sportsbook, with the total sitting on 8.5 runs. RH Luke Weaver (3-6, 4.69 ERA) will attempt to recover from a poor start as he takes the hill for the Cardinals while RH Jhoulys Chacin (6-2, 3.18 ERA) will look to rebound from latest loss as he gets the call in the series finale for the Brewers.
Weaver has allowed four runs in each of his last three starts while giving up 22 hits and 10 walks over 15 1/3 innings. The 24-year old allowed four runs across six hits, which two leaving the yard, with four strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision against the Phillies back on Tuesday. The Florida native, who lost his lone start against the Brewers on May 28, is 2-2 with a 4.41 ERA in six-career starts against the Brewers.
Chacin has been effective of late collecting two consecutive quality starts in as many game. The 30-year old allowed a run across six hits with 2 walks and two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings in a 1-0 loss to the Pirates on Monday. Chacin has allowed six total runs on twelve hits with six strikeouts in 10 1/3 combined innings with a loss in his two starts against St. Louis in early April. The Venezuelan is 0-6 with a 5.40 ERA in 7-career starts against the Cardinals.
