Philadelphia 76ers at Boston Celtics Vegas Odds & NBA Picks

The Boston Celtics will attempt to start off their season on the right foot and will look to make an early statement as they meet a familiar foe when they get ready to lock horns with the Philadelphia 76ers. The two Eastern Conference Atlantic division rivals are scheduled to lock horns in the maiden NBA game of the 2018-19 season with the tilt set to be broadcasted on the TNT network on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET and live from TD Garden in Boston, MA.

Game Time: 8:00 PM ET, Tuesday, October 16, 2018
Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts
Spread: Boston -5
Total: Under 210

The Celtics have dominated the rivalry against their division counterparts winning three of the four regular season series contests last year and promptly dispatched the 76ers in five games in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals back in early May while covering the numbers in each wins. Boston battled through injuries that took key pieces out of the mix for long stretches last season yet still finished with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics are banking on a return to health by Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, among others, as they try to make a trip to the NBA Finals as they sit second-favorite to take the title. Boston was excellent ATS last season, posting a 50-30-2 mark, despite going 22-17-2 at home. The 76ers improved 24 wins from 2016-17 to 2017-18 and earned the team’s first postseason berth since 2011-12. The 76ers have jumped an implausible 42 victories in two seasons as they were just 10-72 in 2015-16 so they’re clearly on a mounting path.

Prediction: Philadelphia 115 Boston 112
