Texas Tech Red Raiders at TCU Horned Frogs Vegas Odds & College Football Picks

The TCU Horned Frogs will attempt to cultivate their winning disposition and will look to get back in the Top-25 rankings while capturing back-to-back victories as they get ready to resume hostilities with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The two Big 12 Conference rivals are scheduled to square off in an all-important division showdown with the contest set to be broadcasted on the ESPN network Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET and live from Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, TX. TCU enters this tilt as a 7-point favorite, thanks to Bovada Sportsbook, with the total set at 62 points.

In their annual meeting last season, the then twelfth-ranked horned Frogs dominated the trenches with a convincing 27-3 victory against the Red Raiders and easily covered the 6.5-point spread as road favorites. With regards to its national insight, TCU is leaving its bye week in better shape than it entered. Sure, the Frogs have two losses but both setbacks came against teams currently ranked in the top-10 in the nation. Ohio State is still undefeated while Texas’ win over Oklahoma also makes TCU’s loss in Austin much less suspect.

The Horned Frogs were ranked 14th in the nation before losing back-to-back games to the Buckeyes and Longhorns before escaping with a 17-14 victory over Iowa State two weeks ago. The Horned Frogs limited Iowa State to just 198 yards of total offense, but turned the ball over three times on the night. Jonathan Song kicked a 28-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining for the final margin thus avoiding to reach overtime. QB Shawn Robinson is expected to play after suffering a shoulder injury late in the Cyclones game.

With wins over Houston and Oklahoma State, the Red Raiders shouldn’t be taken lightly. Last week’s game against the sixth-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers could have very easily gone the other way if freshman QB Alan Bowman hadn’t been injured. In fact, both of the Red Raiders’ losses have come in games when the starting QB has been forced out by injury. Through five games, Texas Tech leads the country in total offense and is scoring 48.4 points on average. With Bowman out, TCU’s defense should be able to quiet down Texas Tech’s high-powered offense but look for the Red Raiders to cover.

Prediction: TCU 35 Texas Tech 31
